Dritte, um über 400 Seiten erweiterte Ausgabe, erstmals 1583 in Paris erschienen. "This edition is important for the history of Samaritan typefounding. It also contains one of the two Samaritan calenders that Scaliger acquired in Egypt" (Crown). - "Scaliger was the greatest scholar of his age, and has been described as 'the father of modern criticism'... The 'De emendatione temporum' revolutionized ancient chronology; it showed that ancient history was not restricted to that of the Greeks and Romans, but also involved that of the Persians, Babylonians and Egyptians, and that of the Jews, hitherto treated as 'sacred history', a subject apart. With incredible diligence Scaliger compared critically the surviving histories and chronicles of each civilization and evolved out of their several chronologies a continuous narrative in the light of the new understanding of the calendar achieved by the Copernican system" (PMM). - Der Band enthält umfangreiche Abschnitte in griechischer Sprache und zahlreiche Textstellen gedruckt mit äthiopischen, arabischen, hebräischen und samaritanischen Typen. Erster Druck mit Raphelengius' wegweisenden arabischen Lettern und erster Druck mit samaritanischen Typen, die Raphelengius extra für diese Ausgabe in Auftrag gegeben hat. - Stellenweise gering gebräunt und 18 Blätter etwas wasserrandig.
