Einzige lateinische Ausgabe dieses seltenen Werkes, von dem erst 1855 eine deutsche Übersetzung bei Scheible erschienen ist. Von dem wenig bekannten Autor weiß man lediglich, dass er mehrere medizinische Werke veröffentlicht hat. In vorliegendem Band beschreibt er sowohl wissenschaftliche und medizinische Probleme als auch okkulte Operationen, pharmazeutische Rezepte, die magische Kraft des Mumienstaubs, die besten Zeiten zum Kräutersammeln etc. - "Though bearing the imprint of Cologne, the book looks as if it had been printed at London. In his dedication to the Royal Society he remarks that though the book is small it contains the most hidden things of science and explains them, and he does not omit to mention the labour and sweatings it has cost him to write it. He wanted the Society to support it with its authority... Haller calls him a disciple of Cornelius Consentinus and 'Archiater Ragusinus,' and Gmelin also speaks of him as the physician of Ragusa. Santanelli himself says that he practised medicine for some years in Venice..." (Ferguson). - Stellenweise leicht gebräunt.
