Einzige Ausgabe in einem vollständigen Exemplar mit dem oft fehlenden Porträt von Worm und dem doppelblattgroßen Kupfertitel mit der dekorativen Darstellung der Wunderkammer, posthum veröffentlicht von seinem Sohn. - "The first illustrated catalogue of the most famous Northern 'Wunderkammer', formed by Ole Worm, a distinguished doctor from Copenhagen, remembered in medical circles for his description of the 'ossicula Wormiana' of supernumary bones of the skull. The collection was catalogued in the classic division of Natural Objects and Artificial Objects; the former comprising fossils, plants and animals and the latter every conceivable kind of object, classified according to their materials, such as clay, amber, stone, gold, silver, bronze, iron, glass and wood. The splendid double-page view of the museum shows the actual arrangement of the specimens on open shelves, with boxes and trays of shells, minerals, stones, rare earths and animal bones; the larger specimens on higher shelves mixed up with bronzes, antiquities and ethnographic objects, racks of spears and utensils, horns and antlers and stuffed animals hang on the walls and from the ceiling are suspended large fish, a polar bear and a Greenland kayak. Icelandic specimens are strongly represented in the collection and many of them came as gifts from Worm's students" (Grinke). - Stellenweise gering gebräunt bzw. braunfleckig. Portrait und Titel sehr sorgsam restauriert. Einband leicht berieben und stellenweise etwas ausgebleicht.
