Werner, Abraham Gottlob.
Neue Theorie von der Entstehung der Gänge, mit Anwendung auf den Bergbau besonders den freibergischen.

Freiberg, Gerlach, 1791. - (19,5 x 12,5 cm). XXXX, 256 S. Schlichter Pappband der Zeit, unbeschnitten.

Einzige Ausgabe. - "Werner's last major work, in which he attempted to develop a theory of the origin of ore deposits consistent with his Neptunian theory of the origin of the earth's crust. His main premise, that veins are formed by the filling of pre-existing fissures, has been discarded, but his work helped to make the study of vein formation an integral part of historical geology. Werner formulated basic questions about the origin and history of veins and their contents, established criteria for determining the relative age of veins and vein materials, and presented a comparative study of the structure of veins and rock masses" (Norman). - Stellenweise etwas gebräunt bzw. stockfleckig, sonst gut erhalten. - DSB 14, 256; Norman 2206; VD18 11398760; Hoover 878; Poggendorff II, 1300; Ward & Carozzi 2305
