The lengthy descriptions give ample reference to external characters and the chemical qualities. In many instances throughout the text of this volume, the authors have also included remarks that reflect the inadequacies of science they had personally experienced; they fully understood the limitation of mineralogical science in their own time and attempt to convey this information to the reader. Leonard wrote the oryctognosy section, Merz the oryctology, and Kopp the chemical sections" (Schuh). - Vorsätze leicht stockfleckig, Titel verso mit Deakzessionsstempel.
