This is a dramatic example of the feasibility problems posed by mechanical computing devices before the advent of electronics" (Origins of Cyberspace 366). - Zu II: Früher Katalog für wissenschaftliche Instrumente mit Preisangaben aber ohne Abbildungen. Die Firma wurde von Fallon Horne (gest. 1858), dem Optiker William Henry Thornthwaite (geb. 1819) und dem Kamerahersteller Edward George Wood gegründet. - Vorsatz mit Besitzeintrag und Notizen von alter Hand.
